About the plant :

Perilla has been known throughout South-East Asia since ancient times, where it is consumed as a green vegetable, condiment and aromatics. It is used to accompany crustaceans that are known allergens and whose effects it inhibits. Its Asian name Shiso, taken from the Chinese word "zisu", would translate into "violet plant that revives".
