About the plant :

When the Lentisque bark is incised, the resin that flows is called mastic: it is a treatment of choice in cases of stomach ulcers. In the East, its resin is traditionally used as a scented masticatory to protect gums and refresh breath. It was used in Europe, at the beginning of the 20th century, in medicine, as an anti diarrheal for children, as an antiscorbutic as well as in the form of poultice or to make fumigations. In dentistry, it was used to occlude decayed teeth.
